Yesterday, 22 June, Grup Boix attended the presentation of the National Pact for Industry (PNI) 2026-2030, held at Eurecat’s headquarters in Manresa, an event that brought together representatives from the business, industrial and institutional sectors of Central Catalonia and the Penedès region.
The event was attended by the Honourable Minister for Business and Labour, Miquel Sàmper, together with representatives from Catalonia’s industrial, technological and institutional sectors.
For Grup Boix, participation in this event reflects the company’s commitment to developing an industry closely linked to the territory and based on an integrated vision of forest management, wood transformation and the bioeconomy.
A roadmap to strengthen industry and the territory
The new PNI 2026-2030 establishes a strategic framework backed by a €5 billion investment and more than 190 measures aimed at boosting industrial competitiveness, supporting the energy transition and enhancing the sustainability of Catalonia’s productive model.
Among its key priorities, the plan places particular emphasis on sectors such as agri-food, metalworking, textiles, the timber industry and the forestry sector, with the objective of strengthening value chains connected to the territory.
The PNI also includes measures focused on industrial modernisation, technological innovation and the development of strategic infrastructure, helping to improve territorial balance and the competitiveness of different regions across Catalonia.
The role of the forestry sector in the new industrial strategy
During the event, Deputy Director General for Forests, David Meya, highlighted the importance of building a forestry industry that is closely connected to the territory and aligned with public industrial development policies.
His remarks reflected an idea widely shared across the sector: the need to restore forestry’s strategic role within the country’s productive economy. In this regard, the valorisation of forest resources, industrial development linked to timber, and the generation of economic activity in rural areas are key elements in ensuring that the primary sector—and forestry in particular—regains a significant role within Catalonia’s industrial landscape.
For Grup Boix, this approach reinforces a long-term trend: the need to integrate forest management into the country’s industrial and climate strategies, in a context shaped by climate change and the growing demand for renewable materials.
